FIVE SALTY ESSENTIALS WITH: DWAYNE SWEENY, PRO RUGBY PLAYER & PODCAST HOST
You may know Dwayne Sweeney as a professional Rugby player, with achievements such as a 100 games for Waikato, Maori All Blacks and six years playing in Japan. Since retiring from professional rugby, Sweeney has started a podcast called REEL TAILS WITH SWEENS, in his podcast he interviews a range of inspiring New Zealanders. Sweeney is also a very passionate game fisherman, especially from little trailer boats, he has some memorable catches such as a 190.4kg Stripe Marlin from his 4.65 FC.
Here are Sweeney Five Salty Essentials which he must have before leaving the dock...

MINI CHEIFIE

My boat which is a FC465. A lot of thought, time and effort has gone into my boat over the past 6 years to be set up to be as effective as possible. I have had some great help from a few people with a lot of knowledge and with the support of FC Boats have created a very functional and enjoyable boat.

J.A.F CREWMAN SHORTS

Still have my original pair! Super comfortable and functional for everything fishing. I have them in every colour and wear them a minimum of 5 days a week.

ACR ResQLink PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON

Safety is a priority for me when I’m heading offshore, especially in the summer months when I  heading wide to chase marlin in my FC465 “Mini Chiefie”

 ASSORTMENT OF BONZE LURES

Always have way more than I need (as do all fisherman) and I do find it hard to decide on the starting 4 in the spread. That being said my new custom Trojan in the new colour “Sweens” was red hot last trip out so will definitely be a starter for the next mission.

J.A.F ANGLER TECH LS TEE

Angler Tech LS Tee, New to the kit but became a quick favourite. Great for long days trolling with great breathability and quick drying for when I get a little wet on the small boat.
