Just Another Fisherman is a label inspired by life on the coast and in the ocean, dedicated to designing relaxed, versatile clothing made for days on and by the ocean, in the city, or outdoors. Our mission has been to blend the effortless style of the coast with timeless lifestyle wear, making JAF a recognised leader in coastal living and culture.
THE ROLE
This is a creative and open role at JAF, part Social Media Manager, part Content Creator, part Brand Creative. You'll be at the heart of our digital presence: shaping our brand voice, developing original content, and finding new ways to connect with our audience across all social platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with the team on launches, events, and campaigns, bringing fresh ideas and creative energy to everything we do.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content creation & creative storytelling
- Bring your creative eye and ideas, whether you’re a Graphic designer, videographer, editor, or all of the above. You'll get hands-on producing photo and video content that captures our coastal lifestyle, product, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- From shooting and editing Reels, TikToks, and Stories with your unique spin, to crafting copy for posts, emails, and blogs, you’ll help shape how our brand is seen and felt.
- You’ll have the freedom to contribute your ideas across launches, events, and collabs, helping plan shoots and supporting product drops.
- You’ll never run out of ways to get involved and make your mark, whether that’s organising a photoshoot, brainstorming a campaign, or helping to run a competition and range-building.
- If you’ve got skills in content, social, community, marketing, or just a passion for storytelling, this role is for you.
Social media and community
- Run JAF's Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
- Build and maintain a monthly content calendar tied to launches, seasons and promotions
- Schedule and publish content consistently across all channels
- Reply to comments and DMs in the JAF voice, and flag customer service issues
- Track trends, fishing seasons and competitor activity to keep content fresh
- Report monthly on reach, engagement, follower growth and social-driven sales
Brand assistant
- Contribute your creative input to product launches, from brainstorming content plans to collaborating on website and email assets with the team
- Work closely with ambassadors, influencers, and collaborators—sharing ideas, supporting campaigns, and ensuring creative alignment
- Take part in running giveaways and competitions, bringing your own creative spin to engage the community
- Help shape and maintain our brand’s creative direction across all touchpoints
- Collaborate with photographers, designers, and other creative partners to bring brand ideas to life
- Support the founders and wider brand team, contributing ideas and creative energy across projects
MUST HAVES
- 1 to 3 years in social media, content creation or marketing (agency, brand or freelance)
- A portfolio showing photo and short-form video work you shot and edited
- Confident with Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, including Meta Business Suite
- Skilled in mobile and desktop editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere/Lightroom or Canva
- Skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong written English with a natural, relaxed, Kiwi tone
- Organised, self-motivated and comfortable juggling several deadlines
NICE TO HAVES
- A passion for fishing, boating or the outdoors (you know a snapper from a kahawai)
- Experience with Shopify
- Basic graphic design skills
- Experience working with influencers or ambassadors
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or media
