FIVE SALTY ESSENTIALS WITH: GEORGE KITTOW - DECK HAND & J.A.F ANGLER

Five Salty Essentials with George Kittow.

George is a professional Deck Hand, J.A.F Angler & all-round good guy who has spent the last four to five years at sea. He is has worked with legends such as skipper Rick Pollock on Pursuit as well as doing time on famous Cairns Black Marlin charter boat Hellraiser. For such a young lad he has a tremendous amount of knowledge about fishing, hosting customers and catching them a fish of a lifetime.

So here are Georges Five Salty Essentials which he must have before leaving the dock.

ANGLER TECH LS TEE

When spending extended time on deck, watching and studying a spread of lures or baits, the sun is not your friend. One ongoing task in this environment is keeping that UV off your back. Thankfully, the Angler Tech LS Tee has taken the guesswork out of this problem and given us a solution which is lightweight, super quick to dry and sure to make you look good in that photo with your next trophy fish. No brainer this one.

4-WAY STRETCH CREWMAN SHORTS

I almost shied away from including these in my 5 Salty Essentials, purely because of the numerous mentions they have received already. Truth is, if these weren’t on the list I would be flat out lying. I’m yet to find a pair of shorts that matches the functionality and comfort that the crewman short offers. Without a doubt, if I am fishing, these are what I’m wearing.

BO JENYNS OBADU HEAVYWEIGHT GLOVES

For today’s wireman, you can find a whole plethora of synthetic leadering gloves on the market which are great for certain situations. When taking wraps in 650lb leader with 1000lbs of Black Marlin on the other end, however, I revert back to old school…leather. Soft leather in the fingers gives a good feel while the hard shield gives total protection. Probably the most important piece of kit in my line of work.
UE BOOM

I was always taught that a happy boat catches fish and what better way to lift a mood, than bumping bangers all day. And if the music doesn’t help you catch more fish, it definitely makes catching nothing more enjoyable. Personal favourites are Notorious BIG “Ready to Die” and Gang Starr’s “Moment of Truth”. Both albums are proven, international fish raisers.

 YETI 36OZ RAMBLER BOTTLE

Gotta stay hydrated. Yeti truly has changed the game when it comes to coolers and drink bottles. This thing still manages to surprise me at how effectively it can keep your drink at temperature. Be it water, coffee or rum; the rambler will not disappoint
