Over the past five years the JAF team have been very fascinated with Squid Fishing in New Zealand, especially around the Hauraki Gulf. We have spent many hours with like-minded squid crazed Anglers trying to figure out these tasty critters, and establish the best ways to catch them. Meaning we have enjoyed some great catches, and adventures along the way.
Recently we jumped in the cruiser with good friend George Bourke and J.A.F Photographer Matt Queree to celebrate our latest print injection “CALAMARI KILLERS” The goal being to hunt down a few squid for an evening meal and document this range of Tee’s & LS Tee’s whilst doing so, the fishing was slow but we enjoyed exploring new locations and were rewarded with couple nice Squid which were put to good use in a summer style roll for dinner.
We highly recommend giving Squid fishing a go, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon or evening and we would rate them as one of the best eating critters in the ocean.
